The 2016 Cascina Morassino Barbaresco is an intense garnet wine with ruby highlights. Black-skinned berry, wild herb and rose aromas align with whiffs of cracked pepper and toasted spice. The full-bodied palate delivers juicy black cherry, raspberry jam, vanilla and tobacco while firm, fine-grained tannins provide the backbone. Fresh acidity lifts the finish. Great structure and depth will allow long aging for further complexity. A score of 94 from Vinous and 93 from Kerin O'Keefe at Wine Enthusiast shows the quality of this wine.
